The Ghana Statistical Association is organizing its annual Statistics and Data Science Conference in Koforidua from October 28 to November 1, 2025. The conference is under the theme ‘Statistical Perspectives on the Sustainable Development Goals: Measuring Progress, Informing Policy, Shaping the Future’.
It is being organized in collaboration with the Applied Mathematics Department of the Koforidua Technical University (KTU) in the Eastern Region.
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a set of seventeen (17) Global Objectives adopted by all United Nations member states in 2015 as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Some of the key highlights of the goals includes:
- Goal 1: End poverty in all its forms
- Goal 2: Achieve zero hunger and promote sustainable agriculture
- Goal 3: Ensure healthy lives and well-being for all
- Goal 4: Provide inclusive and equitable quality education
- Goal 5: Achieve gender equality and empower women and girls and 12 others
These goals are interconnected, meaning progress in one area often supports progress in others. Governments, businesses, civil society, and individuals all have a role to play in achieving them. It is against this background that, Statisticians and Data Scientists are meeting to access the progress made so far to be able to inform policy makers on the way forward.
The premier gathering of Statisticians, Data Scientists, academics and policy experts are committed to shaping Ghana’s data-driven future. The theme promises thought-provoking discussions that will seek to track indicators across health, education, gender, environment, and more. It will also try to identify disparities between regions, populations, and income groups and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and programmes earmarked for implementation. It will also aim at proposing allocation of resources where they’re needed most and shape the future by empowering citizens with knowledge acquisition.
The SDGs are not just goals, they are a shared vision and statistics are the lens through which we see that vision clearly. This year’s event promises to be an unforgettable experience, packed with insightful discussions, networking opportunities, and professional development. The conference begins on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 after arrival by delegates the previous day on the Tuesday, October 28.

This is to engage with peers and experts in interactive panel discussions that will explore the progress made and the way forward. There will also be a Technical Session for Research Paper Presentations by some delegates.
On Thursday, October 30, 2025, the association will continue the Paper Presentation after which it would hold its Annual General Meeting. Day three of the conference is dedicated to sightseeing at Bunso Eco Park and an Award and Dinner Night in the evening to crown the gathering.
