Women’s Empowerment Strategist LadySam, founder and MD of SHIMEI Solutions, brought together leading voices from across sectors for a thought-provoking webinar on Friday, September 27th at 11:00 a.m. (GMT).
The 90-minute virtual session, titled Advancing Women Through Media, Technology, Economic Growth, and Cultural Diplomacy, created a vibrant space for dialogue on the practical steps needed to drive sustainable empowerment for women.
In her opening remarks, LadySam stressed the importance of representation at the highest levels: “As women make up almost 50% of the population, they need to represent 50% of leadership – in government, the military, and every other sphere of influence.”
The discussion unfolded with powerful contributions from across industries. From the world of digital innovation, Claude, CEO of Kowri, highlighted how fintech can transform women’s businesses, noting that “digital payment tools are a game changer for women entrepreneurs: they make daily transactions safer and build a financial footprint.”
Adding to the conversation on leadership, Ernest Boateng, CEO of Global Media Alliance, made it clear that inclusion is not a favor but a necessity: “Empowering women in leadership is not charity – it’s justice and a growth strategy.”
The legal perspective was delivered by Tai-Ann Fadayomi, CEO of Banks and Partners Solicitors, who reminded participants that “women have the right to equal pay, equal treatment, and the freedom to start a family without fear of penalty.”
Cultural barriers were unpacked by Professor Lord Mawuko Yevugah, Political Economist and Convener of IRDN Ghana, who emphasized that “shedding light on harmful cultural practices is the first step to eliminating them.”
Closing the circle of perspectives, Sonia Ibrahim, Actress and Licensed Therapist, spoke passionately about mental health, insisting that “confidentiality and safe support systems are the backbone of real mental health advocacy.”
Weaving these insights together, LadySam reminded participants that progress demands unity of effort: “Collaboration is key! Together we can turn empowerment into sustainable progress.”
The diverse voices blended into one powerful message: empowerment is multi-dimensional — spanning technology, media, leadership, law, culture, and wellbeing.
Participants described the session as inspiring, practical, and deeply engaging. LadySam closed with a promise of more to come: “This is just the beginning. Expect more transformative webinars and initiatives. Empowerment is not an event – it’s a movement.”
