Police in Kintampo have arrested 10 suspects in connection with the renewed violence that occurred in the area Tuesday.
The violence was triggered by a misunderstanding at the Kintampo Waterfall. An eyewitness, Mustapha Ganui, who spoke to Starr News said police reinforcement who invaded the town shot dead the individual.
The casualties occurred when angry youth besieged the station to demand the release of some persons who had been arrested after the police commander for the area was attacked.
One person is confirmed dead and two others reportedly sustained gunshot wounds. Two others who have sustained gunshot wounds are receiving treatment at a local hospital.
He added that residents have deserted the town for fear of being arrested or brutalized.
According to him, the violence started Monday evening after confusion broke out between two groups who were bathing at the Kintampo waterfalls.
He added that a police officer present at the waterfalls attempted to arrest one of the boys but they resisted the arrest and abused the police officer.
Ganui narrates that the Police officer later called for reinforcement
who started shooting indiscriminately when they arrived leading to the
death of one of the boys.
The police is yet to confirm reports of the arrests made so far.
