Accra Brewery Limited (ABL), manufacturers of Ghana’s only true wholesome malt drink, Beta Malt has reiterated its support for developing young talents in sports, as the Ashanti Regional Inter-colleges Super Zonal Athletics Competition drew to a close on Friday, March 29, 2019.
ABL’s Beta Malt for the next three years is the headline sponsor for the annual inter-colleges athletics festival dubbed the “Beta Malt Interco”.
The finals of the super zonal competition saw Prempeh College emerge overall winners on the male side with 99.0 points, whereas the ladies of the T.I Ahmadiyya Senior High School declared winners on the female side with 12.9 points in the various disciplines.
Interacting with Ultimate Business during the event, ABL’s Brands Manager, Portia Offei Asare mentioned that the partnership with the Ghana Education Service was a long term one and was hopeful, it would last even after the stipulated 3 years.
“It’s a long term agreement and for the start we’ve done a three year partnership and would go beyond three years. This is the first year and it’s a total package for them.”
The track and field events, the schools contested for, included relay race, pole vault, 100 metres-dash, triple jump, javelin among others.
The Beta Malt Interco in the Ashanti region, this year witnessed over 46 senior high schools, more than 3,000 students and the general public converge at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi to cheer and spur on their favorite athletes and schools to victory.
As the competition progresses to the national level at Navrongo in the Upper East region in August, two students (a female and a male) who excel, will enjoy scholarship from Beta Malt, up to the tune of Gh¢30,000 for their tertiary education.
All these interventions, according to ABL, is targeted at nurturing and motivating the young Ghanaian to achieve greatness.
