'It was one phone call' - Chickenman CEO on how Nii-Armah Quaye invested in his business

CEO of Pizzaman Chickenman, Chris Boakye Yiadom, has opened up about the pivotal moment that transformed his business, crediting businessman Richard Nii-Armah Quaye’s investment as a life-changing decision.

According to him, it all started with a single phone call—one that opened the door to a partnership that helped build one of Ghana’s most popular food brands.

And to date, it has been the most important call of our lives. We got to Quick Angels, where we encountered Mr Quaye. I don't call him Mr Quaye, I call him 'bossu', and it's not just about the money.

Beyond financial backing, Boakye Yiadom highlighted the invaluable business acumen he gained from Quaye.

There is a vocabulary we use amongst ourselves, we call it business sense. Whenever you interact with Mr Quaye, you leave and feel like you have all the sense in the world. And when you get into contact with him again, you will see that you are foolish and need more sense.

Since its inception, Pizzaman Chickenman has expanded rapidly, now boasting over 25 branches nationwide. The company has also emerged as a significant employer, providing jobs for over 2,000 young people.

Imagine we had 10 of Mr Quaye—it would mean over 20,000 Ghanaians would be gainfully employed.

He also claimed that Pizzaman Chickenman is the highest-paying restaurant chain in Ghana, underscoring its impact on the country’s hospitality sector.

The Chickenman CEO was making these comments at the RNAQ40, the birthday party of Richard Nii Armah Quaye. To honour the business man, Chickenman CEO gifted him a fleet of three cars, including a Lexus and a Mercedes.

Richard Nii-Armah Quaye, who is the founder of Bills Micro Credit, is a key investor in multiple businesses, including Chickenman Pizzaman and Burger King.

His 40th birthday celebration, the RNAQ40 was held at Independence Square on 22 March 2025. It brought together friends and business associates from various industries, marking another milestone in his career as a successful entrepreneur and investor.
