In a shocking development, some irate youth in Ejura, located in the Ashanti Region, have allegedly invaded the local police station, setting it ablaze and freeing suspects held in remand. The incident reportedly occurred on Saturday, 11th January 2025, as tensions escalated in the area.
The youth stormed the police station and overpowered security officers by pelting stones, gaining access to the facility. They freed suspects in remand and set fire to the station and vehicles parked on the premises. A video circulating on social media captures the chaotic scene, with dark smoke filling the sky from the burning structure.

The specific cause of the youth’s action remains unclear, and there are no confirmed reports of arrests or casualties. Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service has yet to release an official statement regarding the incident or outline steps to restore calm in the area.
This incident recalls a similar unrest on 29th June, 2021 in the Ejura/Sekyedumase District. It will be recalled that some agitated youth clashed with security personnel during protests demanding justice for the murder of Ibrahim Mohammed, also known as Macho Kaaka. Kaaka, a 45-year-old social media activist and member of the FixTheCountry movement, was attacked by unknown assailants and later succumbed to his injuries. The protests resulted in the deaths of Abdul Nasir Yussif, 25, and Muntala Mohammed, 25, while four others sustained severe gunshot wounds.
Authorities are expected to investigate and address the root issues to prevent further unrest.
