The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has today officially released provisional results for the Ghana-only version of the 2024 West African Senior Schools Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
This follows the release of GH?35 million by the Ministry of Education (MoE) on Saturday, December 28, 2024, to help in processing the release of results for candidates.
Earlier, the Education Minister Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum had assured the public that results would be released by December 29, 2024, and even though the release of results came a day later, it is a relief for parents, students, and tertiary institutions.
The Council announced the release via a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, John Kapi on Monday, December 30, 2024.
Meanwhile, the entire results of 483 candidates have been cancelled by WAEC for possessing mobile phones in the examination halls.
The statement also added that the subject results of 4,108 candidates have been cancelled for taking foreign materials such as prepared notes, textbooks, and printed material into the examination halls. Additionally, the subject results of 781 candidates and the entire results of 209 candidates have been withheld by the Council for suspected offences.
WAEC said all these cases together with the results of 319 schools being withheld for alleged collusion are under investigation.
These cases are still under investigation. The withheld results of these candidates may be released or cancelled depending on the outcome of the investigations.
