The Greater Accra Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore, has dismissed a letter requesting submissions of names of party members interested in national-level appointments.
The letter, dated 24th December and signed by the NDC Greater Accra Regional Secretary, Theophilus Tetteh Chaie, was addressed to all constituency chairmen. It requested nominations for roles such as Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Ambassadors, CEOs, Directors, Council of State members, and Board Members by the close of work on Monday, 30th December 2024.
However, in a dramatic turn, Chairman Ashie Moore urged the public to disregard the letter.
In a statement on Wednesday, 25th December, he denied receiving any directive from the national level or holding consultations at the regional level regarding such appointments.
He clarified that the move was the sole action of the Regional Secretary, stating:
I am not aware of such notification from the apex level of the party. Neither has the regional executives committee been consulted nor have they approved such a directive.
This is indeed a sole decision of the Regional Secretary without any recourse to laid-down party structures.
Ashie Moore, therefore, urged:
Kindly disregard the letter completely with the seriousness it deserves. The transition team of the President-Elect is assiduously working for a successful handover and focused on delivering the top 10 policies to be implemented within his first 120 days in office.
Meanwhile, in a related development, the NDC has vowed to reverse all last-minute recruitments, payments, and promotions made by the outgoing New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration.
In a statement dated 17th December, the NDC transition team described these decisions as acts of bad faith and declared they would be reversed once the formal transfer of power occurs.
