The Paramount Chief of Battor Traditional area, and the Vice President of the Volta Region House of Chiefs (VRHC), Togbega Patamia Dzekley VII, has stressed the need for peace and unity in the area, to ensure accelerated growth.
Togbega Dzekley said it was time for the people of the area to stop petty squabbles, which affected the development of the traditional area over the years.
The Paramount Chief made these remarks at the mini Hogbe festival of the chiefs and people of Battor at Battor-Manya in the North Tongu District of the Volta Region on Saturday.
The main Hogbe festival is slated for December 13, 2025 and would attract citizens from home and abroad, including the President, John Dramani Mahama, and other government officials.
Togbega Dzekley expressed satisfaction about the high level of patriotism among residents of Battor, which he said demonstrated that the 2025 Hogbe festival would be celebrated in style.
Togbega Dzekley, who is also the President of the Battor Traditional Council (BTC), said peace was a prerequisite for development, and expressed joy over the prevailing peace in the traditional area, which he stressed would pave the way for growth.
“I am satisfied with the wind of unity blowing in the area, and will pave the way for transformation of the traditional area,” he stressed.
Togbega Dzekley entreated citizens at home and abroad, and friends, to actively participate in the 2025 Hogbe festival, which would be used to mobilise human and material resources for the development of the area.
The Chairman of the Mini Hogbe Planning Committee, Mr. Harrison Vortuame, said festivals were vessels of development, and assured that the Hogbe festival would be celebrated regularly to mobilise resources for growth.
