THE Business Outsourcing Services Association (BOSAG) has launched its five-year strategic plan with a pledge to create 100,000 jobs from now to 2030.
BOSAG is a trade association for Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) and allied Services.
The programme, held under the theme “Connecting Talent, Technology and Opportunity,” also saw the inauguration of a governing board and advisory council to steer the affairs of the Association, as well as the launch of its official website.
Speaking on behalf of the Chief of Staff, Mr Julius Debrah, the Deputy Government Spokesperson, Ms Shamima Muslim, said the government was committed to forging strategic partnerships that aligned with national priorities and ensure sustainable job creation.
He emphasised that such partnerships must fill existing gaps in education, health, and infrastructure, while providing meaningful employment for the youth.
Mr Debrah said the government viewed Ghana’s youth as both a demographic dividend and a potential threat, and was therefore determined to channel their talents into productive ventures.
He said the launch of BOSAG’s five-year strategy was a significant milestone in Ghana’s economic and digital transformation agenda.
“It presents a bold roadmap to unlock 100,000 sustainable international-facing jobs for the Ghanaian youth by 2030,” he stated, adding that it aligned with ongoing government initiatives such as the One Million Coders Programme and the 24-hour Economy policy.
The Minister of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation, Mr Sam George, lauded BOSAG’s initiative, describing it as a vital step towards positioning Ghana as a competitive global outsourcing destination.
He said the Association’s target of creating 100,000 jobs by 2030 complemented the Ministry’s One Million Coders Programme and the broader digital transformation agenda.
Mr George disclosed that the government was working with global technology giants such as Huawei, MTN, Amazon Web Services and Oracle to deliver specialised training programmes to boost digital skills among the youth.
He added that new legislation, including the Ghana Innovation and Start-up Bill and cybersecurity regulations, would soon be enacted to create an enabling environment for digital business growth.
The Interim Chair of BOSAG, Mr Kojo Hayford, said Ghana had the potential to lead the global business outsourcing industry and not merely participate in it.
He described the five-year plan as “audacious,” adding that improving infrastructure and the presence of global technology firms demonstrated Ghana’s readiness for the challenge.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Accra Digital Centre, Mr Dzifa Gunu, and GIZ Team Lead, Mr John Duti, commended BOSAG’s vision, noting that the business process outsourcing (BPO) sector could play a key role in addressing unemployment and supporting the government’s 24-hour economy drive.
They urged stakeholders to work together to empower the youth and position Ghana as a globally recognised hub for outsourcing and digital services.
