THE Volta Regional Minister, Mr James Gunu, has urged both local and international investors to seize the abundant investment opportunities available in the Volta Region.
He encouraged them to explore potential investment areas that would benefit the community, creating job opportunities and enhancing the living standards of the residents.
The Minister made this appeal during a ceremony in Ho, where two Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) were signed.
The first MoU was between the Volta Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC) and the Chinese city of Shenzhen, focusing on technology transfer and environmental initiatives.
The second MoU was signed between the Ghana Chapter of the Chamber of Commerce and its counterparts in Guandong, Hong Kong, and the Macao Great Bay Area, aimed at attracting Chinese investors to the Volta Region through the Chinese Embassy.
Mr Gunu elaborated that the Volta Region was an ideal destination for investors, particularly in sectors such as agriculture, tourism, and industrialisation, which have remained underdeveloped over the years.
Additionally, Mr Gunu pointed out that the region was rich in resources, including fertile agricultural land and diverse vegetation, encompassing forests and coastal areas.
He assured potential investors that there was ample land available and that the chiefs and residents of the region were eager to welcome them.
The Regional Minister noted that the Volta Region stands out among all regions in the country regarding investment opportunities.
He again emphasised that the region possesses all the attributes that any investor would find valuable and encouraged both local and foreign investors to capitalise on the favourable conditions present in the region.
Moreover, Mr Gunu stated, “We have everything that will facilitate investor activities; that is why we say, visit the Volta Region, and you have visited Ghana, as the region encompasses all that investors seek in the country to invest.”
In her remarks, Ms Zhang Yali, the Party Member and Deputy Director of the Shenzhen Ecological Environment Bureau, stated that Shenzhen was recognised globally as a city of innovation within China, renowned for its world-class technology and leadership in the green evolution that would soon be extended to the Volta Region.
She emphasisd that Shenzhen was acknowledged worldwide as a modern city in China, boasting over one thousand parks that host more than 10 thousand migratory birds, thereby enhancing biodiversity.
Ms Zhang Yali noted that a high-quality environment fosters growth, with shared values that would soon be implemented and showcased in the Volta Region for the mutual benefit of both nations.
Mr Hao Mingtu, the Director of the Belt and Road Environment Technology Exchange and Transfer Centre, stated that the city’s authorities anticipate a productive collaboration and investment in the Volta Region.
