The Minister of Sports and Recreation, Mr Kofi Adams, says that the playing surface of the Accra Sports Stadium is in a very good condition to host the Black Stars 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Chad.
Ghana’s national men’s football team is scheduled to play against Chad tomorrow in the first of two qualification games for the 2026 FIFA World Cup with the second being a tie against Madagascar in Morocco on March 24.
Speaking to the media after watching the training session of the team, the Sports Minister said the playing surface that has come under intense scrutiny in the past was in good shape to host the game.
“So far, so good, we are fixing what must be fixed. The lighting system is improving, the flood lights, the scoreboard, the seats are also being worked on.
At least the pitch, everybody who has criticised our pitch, now is impressed about the pitch so let’s all rally the support for the team because that is the team we have” he stated.
In another development, the Member of Parliament for Berekum West, Dickson Kyere-Duah, has stated that the latest Black Stars team is united and committed than before.
He noted this in an interview with Citi Sports after visiting the team’s training session.
“Last year (during) the AFCON qualifiers, I watched quite a number of them and I’m seeing a totally different Black Stars today; A Black Stars that you can see a sense of unity, you can see a sense of commitment, you can see their passion and drive and they are driven by the Ghanaian supporters” he said.
“The technical team has been beefed, there has been some tweaks here and there at the management level of the Black Stars and the players themselves are very enthusiastic…and I am very confident that on Friday and on Monday, we will record victories in those two matches and that will put us in strong contention to qualify for the 2026 World Cup,” he added
