The Lehim Foundation, in collaboration with Eden Code and Vegan Diner, has held an outreach for the pupils of Ngmetsokope to teach them the rudiments of living.
The event, which saw the massive participation of staff and students of the school, was also graced by the chief and other community leaders of the town.
The founder and director of LEHIM Foundation, Dr Francis Akwetey, who was also the main speaker, highlighted the need for humans to co-exist in unity without any discrimination. He stressed the need for religious tolerance, especially among Christians and Muslims.
A key aspect of the outreach was the award of scholarships to 20 students.
The award comprised 20 exercise books each, a school bag and a certificate. A member of the foundation, Mr Samuel Amebley, advised awardees not only to concentrate on formal education but also to be humble, obedient, respectful and affable in their community.
He added that teachers will monitor their behaviour to ensure that they comported themselves in order to attract more scholarships.
He expressed the hope that the awardees will do their best to serve as role models for the community in future.
A side attraction of the event was basic training of the categories of Class Six to Junior High School students in beading with the view to introducing them to a vocation. The beads made will be sold on behalf of the students.
In his remarks, the chief of the town, Nene Teye Borbieteye, indicated that he could not find the appropriate words to describe the benevolence of the LEHIM Foundation.
He expressed deep appreciation for the scholarships and appealed to both parents and students to make the community proud by taking their studies seriously and becoming good citizens.
He further advised members of the community to love one another in order to promote unity and development. He appealed for support in other ways to help develop the town.
January 31, 2025, will indeed go down in the history of the Ngmetsokope as one that brought happiness and hope to the community
