President, John Dramani Mahama has appointed Moses Klu Mensah as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in charge of Banking and Business at the Ghana Export-Import Bank (EXIM Bank).
Moses Klu Mensah is a Chartered Accountant with extensive experience in the USA, having previously worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), Ernst & Young (EY), and International Business Machines Corporation (IBM).
He holds two MBAs, one in Finance and another in Public Accounting from IONA University (USA) and has earned a Certificate of Excellence in Private Equity and Venture Capital from Columbia Business School.
With professional certifications as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Mr Mensah brings a wealth of expertise in financial management, auditing, and advisory services.
He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the New York State Society of CPAs (NYSCPA), and the New Jersey Society of CPAs (NJSCPA).
As an accomplished finance professional with over a decade of leadership experience, he has made significant contributions to fiscal policy, tax administration, and financial consulting.
He has played a key role in designing and implementing financial systems for government entities and multinational corporations, ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks and improving budgetary efficiency.
Before his appointment, Mr Mensah was the Managing Partner at Mensah Klu & Associates, a boutique consultancy in New York specialising in fiscal budget management and advisory services for state and city governments.
Under his leadership, the firm provided strategic financial solutions, enhancing fiscal transparency and reducing audit risks for public sector agencies.
He also served as a Senior Assurance and Advisory Lead at PwC, where he supervised audit engagements for both public and private clients, optimising financial monitoring systems and controls.
His tenure at Ernst & Young (EY) saw him collaborating with cross-functional teams to streamline client operations and minimise financial risks.
Additionally, his experience as a financial analyst at IBM strengthened his expertise in financial projections and revenue analysis.
Beyond corporate finance, and his strong academic background, he has served as an Adjunct Professor of Accounting and Finance at Monroe University in New York.
For over seven years, he taught advanced accounting and auditing courses, supervised graduate student projects, and mentored students preparing for the CPA exams.
His leadership extends to governance and advisory roles, including board memberships at the Bronx Chamber of Commerce (Audit Committee), the New York City Housing Authority, and PFM Tax Africa Network in Ghana.
In his new role at Ghana Exim Bank, Mr Mensah is expected to leverage his global experience to strengthen the bank’s financial operations, enhance strategic partnerships, and drive sustainable business growth.
His appointment underscores the government’s commitment to attracting top-tier financial experts to key institutions, ensuring robust economic development and trade expansion.
The Ghana Export-Import Bank was established by the Ghana Export-Import Bank Act 2016 (Act 911) to support the Government of Ghana’s quest for a feasible and sustainable export led economy.
