The Ashanti Regional Police Command has interdicted a police officer, Bright Appiah Dankwah, over his alleged involvement in a robbery attack on a mobile money vendor in Kumasi pending investigations into the matter.

The suspect, who is attached to the Ghana Police Service at the Asuoyeboah Police Station, was arrested by the Ashanti Regional Anti-Robbery Unit following an intelligence-led operation.

A statement issued by the Police Public Affairs Unit and signed by Godwin Ahianyo, Head of the Public Affairs Unit of the Ashanti Regional Police Command, indicated that a search conducted at the suspect’s residence led to the retrieval of a Bruni Mod. 92 gas pistol, ammunition, and an amount of GH¢9,835 believed to be connected to the case.
The suspect, upon being arraigned before the Atasemanso Circuit Court on May 11, 2026, was remanded into police custody. He is expected to reappear before the court on May 29, 2026.
