The Ghana Police Service has arrested six individuals in connection with alleged landguard activities and the unlawful possession of firearms following a violent confrontation at a construction site in Trasacco, Accra.
According to the Police, on Friday, January 09, 2026, at about 12:50 p.m., officers responded to a distress call reporting an attack on workers by an armed group.
Upon arrival at the scene, police encountered about 50 men who were allegedly firing shots at the workers.

Police returned fire and pursued the suspects into a nearby bush. During the operation, six suspects were arrested, while others managed to flee.
A search conducted on the arrested suspects led to the retrieval of several firearms and ammunition, including one AK-47 rifle with five rounds of ammunition, one Luger T9 pistol with five rounds of ammunition, and one Regard MC pistol loaded with 13 rounds of ammunition.

Four motorbikes believed to have been used by the suspects were also intercepted.
The suspects, together with the retrieved exhibits, were conveyed to the Accra Regional Police Headquarters, where they are currently being detained to assist with further investigations.

Police say efforts are underway to track down the remaining suspects who escaped, while investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
