Justice Dzamefe Promises Equal Justice for All

Justice Senyo Dzamefe, one of seven newly appointed justices to Ghana’s Supreme Court, has pledged the group’s unwavering commitment to upholding the rule of law and delivering justice fairly and impartially.

Speaking on behalf of his colleagues during their swearing-in ceremony at the Jubilee House in Accra, Justice Dzamefe assured the people of Ghana of their collective dedication to serving without bias or prejudice.

“To the people of Ghana, we promise to dispense justice to all manner of people without fear or favour, ill-will or affection. We also promise you justice under law,” he said.

The newly appointed justices include Sir Dennis Dominic Adjei, Gbiel Simon Suurbaareh, Kweku Tawiah Ackaah-Boafo, Philip Bright Mensah, Janapare Bartels-Kodwo, Hafisata Amaleboba, and Senyo Dzamefe.

Their appointments were made in accordance with Article 144(2) of the 1992 Constitution of the Republic of Ghana.

Justice Dzamefe took a moment to express deep gratitude to the families and loved ones of the new justices, acknowledging the sacrifices and support that helped them reach this milestone.

“To our friends and families, especially our spouses and children, you have been with us through thick and thin. The journey for some of us has been exceptionally long. You never gave up on us—praying for us, supporting us, and believing this day would come,” he said.

He also shared a touching personal reflection, recalling the disappointment of previous years and the hopeful questions of his children. “The dreadful question our children would ask — ‘Daddy, this time too your name is not on the list?’ — today, it is over. Our names have come out.”

“This is the surest confirmation of the oft-quoted saying that God’s time is always the best,” he concluded, adding a prayer for strength to fulfill the responsibilities of their high office.

The swearing-in ceremony was attended by President John Dramani Mahama, government officials, members of the judiciary, and family members of the newly appointed justices.
