The National Coordinator of the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP), Hajia Fati Forgor, has expressed her appreciation to the ruling Government led by President John Dramani Mahama for the timely release of funds to pay the outstanding arrears owed caterers under the Programme across the 16 regions of Ghana.
The Government, through the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP) has fully paid the 31 days arrears owed the caterers for the First Term of the 2024/2025 academic year.
In a statement issued in Accra and signed by herself, Hajia Fati Forgor noted that the GSFP Secretariat, under the supervision of the MoGCSP had commenced the restructuring of the feeding programme to fulfill the government’s commitment to decentralising its operations, improving the quality of food served and ensuring consistency in the payment of caterers.
“We also thank our development partners for their continuous support and collaboration with the government of Ghana to sustain the Programme.”
Meanwhile, the Ghana School Feeding Programme is presently impacting over four million beneficiary pupils in the deprived public basic schools in all the 261 districts, with the aim of fighting malnutrition among pupils, increasing enrolment, attendance and retention.
