
The Italian Ambassador to Ghana, Mrs Laura Ranalli, has paid a courtesy call on the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, at the Police Headquarters in Accra.
Mrs. Ranalli was accompanied by the Deputy Head of Mission, Mr. Gabriele Ubaldo Palermo, and Brigadier General Andrea Paris, who serves as the Security and Capacity Building Expert with the Italian delegation to the African Union and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) in Addis Ababa.
The visit formed part of ongoing diplomatic engagements aimed at strengthening bilateral relations, with a particular focus on enhancing cooperation between the Ghana Police Service and the Italian government in security and capacity building.
During the meeting, both parties discussed opportunities for collaboration in law enforcement training, technical support, and the exchange of best practices in tackling transnational crime and improving public safety.
The Inspector-General of Police expressed appreciation for the longstanding partnership between Ghana and Italy, and reaffirmed the Police Service’s commitment to deepening cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
Mrs. Ranalli commended the Ghana Police Service for its strides in professional policing and underscored Italy’s readiness to support further initiatives that promote peace and security in Ghana and the wider West African region.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to explore concrete steps toward enhanced collaboration in security matters.
