Unconfirmed report reaching The Chronicle says the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has intensified its scrutiny of documents at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital (GARH), following recent media reports of alleged corruption at the state owned health facility. According to our sources the anti-graft agency is reportedly re-opening a previously stalled investigation into suspected theft and extortion at the hospital. The probe involves some staff members and Staraid Care Limited.
The investigation, initially launched on July 24, 2024 by Abdulai Bashiru Dapilah, the then Deputy Executive Director in charge of Operations at EOCO, could not be completed before he left. However, EOCO’s new leadership is reportedly determined to pursue the case to its conclusion.
This renewed interest comes as Ridge Hospital faces further controversy, with allegations of a coordinated campaign to undermine its current Medical Director, Rev. Dr Ralph Armah, who has pledged to combat corruption within the institution.
The recent media attention surrounding these allegations has prompted EOCO to revisit the earlier investigation, suggesting a broader probe into potential malfeasance at the hospital.
