
A 33-year-old trader, Milimor Wassah, has denied his involvement in an alleged robbery attack on a trader and resident of Mamprobi, Justice Frimpong, near the Konkomba Yam Market, where assailants made away with 50 assorted mobile phones valued at GH¢24,000, as well as cash amounting to GH¢3,500.
He pleaded not guilty to the allegation of robbery when presented before the Circuit Court at Dansoman, presided over by Her Honour Halimah El-Alawa.
MilimorWassah pleaded not guilty to the charge and was granted bail in the sum of GH¢30,000, which must be justified. As part of his bail conditions, he is required to deposit his Ghana Card with the court registry and report to the police every two weeks until further notice. The case has been adjourned to May 15, 2025.
Case Details
According to the prosecution, led by Chief Inspector Portia Nuarko, Wassah is facing a charge of robbery contrary to Section 149 of the Criminal Offences Act 1960 (Act 29).
The prosecution narrated that on March 18, 2025, at around 9:00 PM, the complainant, Justice Frimpong, was heading home after closing from the market at Agbogbloshie when he was attacked near the Konkomba Yam Market.
Frimpong, also a trader and a resident of Mamprobi, was allegedly surrounded by a group of about 20 men wielding cutlasses, sticks, and other offensive weapons.
MilimorWassahallegedly held Frimpong and threatened him before dragging him to the Bimbila lorry station.
The prosecution stated that, under Wassah’s orders, the group forcibly took Frimpong’s bag, which contained 50 assorted mobile phones valued at GH¢24,000, as well as cash amounting to GH¢3,500.
During the attack, Justice Frimpong sustained injuries on both hands and his head. A police patrol team arrived at the scene, prompting the alleged accomplices to flee with the stolen items. Wassah, however, was apprehended as he attempted to escape and was subsequently taken into custody.
