
The Assembly Members of Akatsi North District Assembly of the Volta Region have approved Mr Bless Kodjo Katamani, as the new District Chief Executive (DCE) of the area.
In a unanimous decision, all 18 assembly members, comprising 12 elected and 6 government appointees, voted in favor of the nominee, indicating a 100 per cent endorsement.

This overwhelming victory signifies that Mr Katamani has secured more than the two-thirds majority required from the assembly members to get the nod, as stipulated in the Local Governance Act.
Mr Katamani, in his victory message, expressed his excitement and gratitude to the assembly members, chiefs, opinion leaders, and the public for their courage and hope in him.
“We have a set new history today by giving me 100 per cent endorsement and this marks a new chapter in the development of Akatsi North District, we need to work together and push our beloved district to the highest,” he said.
Mr Katamani acknowledged that the victory belongs to the assembly members and the public, who have entrusted him with the power to lead the district towards fostering development in areas such as education, sports, health, infrastructure and roads among others.
He assured that his doors would always be open to developmental ideas that would guide the progress of the area and urged chiefs, assembly members, stakeholders and the public to participate in decision-making processes that would contribute to the district’s development.
“My administration will be inclusive, welcoming ideas from individuals regardless of their political affiliations. Yes, we can celebrate the victory, but the main focus should now be on working hard to elevate the standard of the district.”

Mr Katamani also expressed his gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for the opportunity to champion the leadership of bringing development to the area and charged the youth to embrace the victory and work towards a brighter future.
Mr James Gunu, the Volta Regional Minister, in his remarks commended the Assembly members for their efforts, which he said was not just a confirmation of President’s nominees but about embracing the resetting agenda of vision for growth, transformation and prosperity for Akatsi North, the region and the entire country.
He added that, “as my home district and as first DCE for Akatsi North, this unanimous confirmation brings me much joy, as it sets a good example for all other districts in the region to follow.”
Mr Cephas Weto, Assembly Member of Agormor Electoral Area, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, noted that the confirmation of the nominee demonstrates the readiness of all members to work towards successful achievements with the new DCE.
Some residents who spoke with the Ghana News Agency thanked the assembly members for their gesture and urged them to work hard to bring development to every aspect of the area adding that,” that he who much is given, much is expected, and the new DCE must be prepared to deliver on his promises and responsibilities.”
MrKatamani, who is the fourth DCE of Akatsi North district, was duly sworn into office by the officials of the Electoral Commission.
