The Evalue Ajomoro Gwira Constituency Executives of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) have jumped to the defence of the Constituency Chairman, Emmanuel Enor Kofi, over allegations that he is engaged in illegal mining, popularly known as ‘Galamsey’.
Addressing a news conference in Sekondi, King Phillip Anikloe, the Constituency Communications Officer of the NDC said the allegations were not only untrue, but very defamatory.
According to him, it is on record that the party chairman is a small scale miner and has all the documents to prove it. He has operated his registered business in compliance with mining laws and regulations.
Apart from this, he has also obtained all necessary permits and licenses required for his operation and has strictly adhered to environmental and safety standards outlined by regulatory authorities.
Therefore, allegation suggesting otherwise are baseless and misleading.
Below is the full statement read by the NDC Executives at the press conference yesterday;
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH: A REBUTTAL TO FALSE PUBLCATIONS ABOUT NDC
CONSTTUENCY CHAIRMAN ENGAGING IN GALAMSEY
A recent publication on the front pages of the Enquirer Newspaper and Custodian
Newspaper falsely alleged that, the NDC constituency Chairman in Evalue Ajomoro
Gwira, Mr. Emmanuel Ennor Kofi, is engaged in galamsey.
This press conference is a response to these recent publications and radio commentary that has made unfounded allegations regarding the involvement of our chairman in illegal mining activities.
This claim is not only false but it is also damaging to his long-standing reputation.
First and foremost, we would like to clarify that Mr. Emmanuel Ennor Kofi has always operated his registered business in compliance with mining laws and regulations.
He has obtained all necessary permits and licenses required for his operations and has adhered to all environmental and safety standards outlined by regulatory authorities.
Allegations suggesting otherwise are baseless and misleading. It is crucial to approach such claims with a degree of skepticism, particularly when they are not backed by concrete proof or credible sources.
The assertions made in these publications and radio commentary lack any verifiable evidence. The publication fails to provide specific details that substantiate its claims.
The pictures attached to create the impression that water bodies are being polluted by his actions are untrue.
Again, the claim by one Nana, who calls himself a chief, that Mr. Ennor Kofi has destroyed his 800 Rubber trees is false and we dare the Nana to provide evidence to that. This is defamatory and in a responsible discourse, one should rely on evidence, not hearsay.
It is also becoming increasingly clear that some unseen faces from the NPP may benefit from discrediting our chairman’s reputation to gain a competitive advantage.
Mr. Ennor Kofi has been supporting and financing activities of the party for the past 8 years up until now, and there is every attempt to bring him down.
With Chairman Ennor Kofi at the helm of affairs as chairman, there is no way the NPP can rise again in Evalue Ajomoro Gwira constituency.
We, therefore, call on the party hierarchy to ignore such publications and threat it with the contempt it deserves.
We believe that individuals with vested malicious intent driven by selfish interests in collaboration with some individuals from the NPP are trying to destroy the image of the constituency chairman, all because of the MCE position.
We the constituency executives and the grassroots, therefore, urge the leadership of the NDC to take note of this development and recognise that we are committed to upholding the party’s ideals.
We demand a competent and affable leader to head the Municipality, ensuring that the agenda of His Excellency John Mahama is achieved.
We are, therefore, ready to work with anyone the president will nominate for the
MCE position.
Let us remain committed to the agenda of the party and respect the decision of the
president. Thank you for coming
