DCOP Teye Cudjoe has been appointed as new Ashanti Region Police Commander. He replaces DCOP Frank Abrokwa, who has been transferred to the Police Headquarters in Accra, by Police administration.
DCOP Teye Cudjoe was the Central North Regional Commander before taking over from COP Frank Abrokwa, whose transfer was triggered by the poor management of security during the Ashanti Regional Council of State election, held at the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council (ARCC), in Kumasi, on Tuesday, February 11 2025.

The election, which was initially peaceful, later turned chaotic after some ‘machomen’ disrupted the process, while sorting of ballot papers was underway.
The Ashanti Regional Police Command allegedly failed to manage the chaotic situation properly, as expected by the police, resulting in his transfer to Accra.
The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, welcomed the new Ashanti Regional Police Commander and stated that he looks forward to a strong collaboration in maintaining stability and fostering a secure environment for all residents within the Region.
The new Regional Police Commander has since called on the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, during the last Awukudae event at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.
