PRINPAG congratulates Kwakye Ofosu, Shamima Muslim on their appointments

The Private Newspapers and Online News Publishers Association of Ghana (PRINPAG) has extended its heartfelt congratulations to Felix Kwakye Ofosu and Shamima Muslim on their recent appointments as key figures in the government’s communications machinery.

Mr. Kwakye Ofosu, a seasoned communicator and former Deputy Information Minister, now assumes the role of Minister of State responsible for Government Communications. Shamima Muslim, a respected journalist and advocate for media freedom, takes on the position of Deputy Government Spokesperson.

In a press statement signed by PRINPAG President Andrew Edwin Arthur and Executive Secretary Jeorge Wilson Kingson, the association expressed confidence in the duo’s ability to address the challenges facing the media industry in Ghana.

Their track records in engaging with journalists, PRINPAG noted, made them well-suited for their new roles.

“As an association representing newspapers and online news publishers across the country, we stand ready to work closely with the Government Communications team to enhance the welfare and safety of journalists,” PRINPAG stated.

The association urged the new appointees to advocate for policies that promote press freedom and create a safe working environment for journalists.

They also encouraged them to be open to constructive criticism and to ensure government communication remains transparent and accountable.

PRINPAG further called on the government to support capacity-building initiatives for journalists, improve access to information, and foster collaboration between the media and state institutions.

The association expressed hope that under Kwakye Ofosu and Muslim’s leadership, government-media relations would strengthen, creating a more vibrant and responsible press landscape.

PRINPAG said it looks forward to a productive partnership in advancing the cause of free and responsible journalism in Ghana.
