A Citation of Honour was presented to him as part of the 2025 Annual General & Scientific Meeting of the Paediatric Society of Ghana.
CITATION
The citation presented to him reads: “In recognition of your outstanding dedication and unwavering commitment to advancing child health care in Ghana through the Kokrokoo Charities Foundation. Your visionary leadership in launching Project 100 has significantly improved and strengthened neonatal care in Ghana, providing life-saving incubators and essential medical support for hospitals across the country, giving pre-term babies an improved fighting chance at survival.
This has left an indelible mark on countless families and communities. With profound appreciation and heartfelt gratitude, we celebrate your remarkable impact and honour your steady efforts in shaping a healthier future for Ghana’s children.”
APPRECIATION
It was all joy as participants loudly applauded to celebrate Chairman General Kwami Sefa Kayi as he moved from his seat to receive the citation. With smiles beaming on his face, he expressed appreciation to the Paediatric Society of Ghana for the recognition, describing it as a grease to the elbow of him and the team to do more.
He also thanked Prof. Efua Hesse for guiding and showing them the way when the idea for the project was conceived, leading to its smooth takeoff. Speaking to journalists after the event, Kwami Sefa Kayi was again full of thanks.
“First of all, I would like to say thank you to the Paediatric Society of Ghana for recognising the work we’re doing with Kokrokoo Charities.”

He continued that, “It will spur us on to even work harder in order to ensure that when it comes to child mortality, maternal mortality and the little that we have done so far in the last ten years or so, when it comes to Kokrokoo Charities and Project 100, we will give some more energy to it. It’s been tough; it’s been good, but we will continue.”
He appealed to corporate Ghana to come to the aid of the foundation to be able to procure more incubators to save the lives of innocent babies. Beyond the Project 100 for the incubators, the foundation has also decided to start a project of a 60-bed mother’s unit at the Ho Teaching Hospital, popularly known as the Trafalgar Hospital in Ho. In this project, he mentioned that the ground would be broken soon for construction to commence.
Meanwhile, the category of Honorary Membership award was given to Prof. Efua Hesse and that of Paediatric Leadership and Governance award went to Prof. Alhassan Abdul Moonmen and others.
Also, media personality with Adom FM and TV, Afia Amankwa Tamakloe, was honoured with a citation as well for her role in the health sector.
