Atletico Madrid, Real Madridlock horns in derbygame
By Jesse Otoo
Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid both look to maintain their unbeaten run in the Spanish La Liga as they lock horns in the Madrid derby at Metropolitano Stadium on Sunday night.
Real Madrid’s last five matches have produced some incredible goals so far. Atletico Madrid has won two out of their last five meetings, drawn two and lost one.
Diego Simeone and his squad have maintained their unbeaten run this season, though they’ve drawn three of their last six matches. They’ve made some important signings during the transfer window. Their recent results have made it clear that their signings are good. Players like Conor Gallagher, Julian Alvarez and Alexander Sorloth have been improving match after match since they joined.
Diego Simeone is counting on his boys to bounce back after picking a draw on away soil against Rayo Vallecano last weekend.
Although Real Madrid hasn’t lost a match this season, fans aren’t pleased with the way they started the season, with a draw against Mallorca. A game many tipped them to win with a huge goal difference.
Kylian Mbappe and Endrick joining the club boosted the hopes of fans as both players are experienced with match winning mentality. Despite their 3-2 win against Alaves on Tuesday night, the host made couple of defensive errors resulting in Alaves coming from 3-0 down to make it 3-2 in the dying stages of the game. Some mistakes needs to be corrected before the clash with rival Atletico Madrid, who are impressive in front of goal.
Manchester United host Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford
By Jesse Otoo
Manchester United host Tottenham Hotspur in the English Premier League at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
Both clubs are heavyweights in the league and in Europe. Meetings between these two giants have produced some humiliating outcome over the years. Manchester United has won two out of their previous five meetings, with two of the matches ending in a draw and one lost.
Erik Ten Hag, the head coach of Manchester United has been the center for criticism for a while now, as his side has failed to produce the expected results fans are seeking.
Joshua Zirkzee, Mattijs De Ligt and Mazraoui have all shown and have impact on the team since their arrival. Untiedhasn’t been impressive this season and if care is not taken, a place in the top four will be a problem, although we are in the early stages of the season.
The Red Devils have played five matches in the league so far, having won two, drawn one and lost two.
Tottenham Hotspuron the other hand haven’t had the best start to the season, compared to that of previous seasons. They drew their open match against Leicester City and have managed to secure two wins in the last four matches, having losing two.
Ange Postecoglou and his guys are looking forward to follow up their win last weekend against Brentford with a win.
Manchester United have created many chances this season than most of the teams in the top five leagues this season but have failed to utilize or make use of the chances created. They’ve scored five and conceded five, so it’s clear they lack defensive awareness and need to solve that as their opponents are good in front of goal, having scored nine goals in their last the league this season.
Bayern Munich welcome high-flying Leverkusen
By Jesse Otoo
Bayern Munich host defending champions Bayer 04 Leverkusen at the Allianz Arena on Saturday afternoon. Leverkusen dominated Bayern Munich last season and is looking forward to do same this season. But a lot has changed about this Bayern side and it is going to be a spectacular game of football.
Bayern have shown some great promise since the start of the season. Having won all of their matches so far and also been the team with the most goals this season. Vincent Kompany’s side thrashed Werder Bremen last weekend with a 5-0 score line. Michael Olise, Harry Kane and Musiala have started the season well.
Bayern weren’t impressive last season and so with the signings made so far and the appointment of a new head coach, has given the team some kind of winning mentality.
Placing third last season wasn’t a good end to the season they anticipated and so they are looking forward to get a point from this match.
Leverkusen became a household name after making history last season winning the league. They went unbeaten in 34 matches and that was so far their best performance since the club was established. Although Xabi Alonso and his squad made a slow start to the season after their unbeaten streak was ended by RB Leipzig, they look set to take on their opponents.
Bayern Munich is the favorite to win this match but don’t underestimate this Leverkusen side.
