Ghanaian attacker Francis Amuzu produced a standout performance as Gremio defeated rivals Internacional 3-1 in the Copa Betano do Brasil quarter-final second leg.
The winger provided two crucial assists, helping Gremio secure a 3-1 aggregate victory and a place in the semi-finals.
Amuzu set up Carlos Vinicius for the opening goal in the 14th minute and later teed up Filip Krovinovic to restore Grêmio’s two-goal cushion in the 68th minute. Vinicius added another before halftime, finishing off a well-worked move to give the hosts a commanding lead going into the break.
Internacional pulled one back through Vitinho in the 79th minute, but Gremio held firm to advance on aggregate. The result sends Grêmio through to the next round, where they will face tougher opposition as they chase domestic cup glory.
Looking ahead, Grêmio return to Brasileirao Betano action on September 7 with a home fixture against Vitoria. The club will hope to carry their cup momentum into the league clash as they continue their push on multiple fronts this season.
