Eastern Region forward Ransford Siaw and Upper West Region striker Abdulai Bashit were the leading performers on Matchday 2 of the 2026 MTN Elite U-19 Championship after earning Most Valuable Player awards for their respective Group A victories.
Siaw was recognised after scoring the only goal in Eastern Region’s 1-0 win over Western Region, a result that gave the defending champions their first victory of the campaign.
The decisive moment came in the eighth minute at the GFA Technical Centre. Siaw reacted early to put Eastern Region in front, and his effort ultimately settled a tightly fought contest.
Western Region were unable to find an equaliser as Eastern Region protected their narrow advantage through the remainder of the match. The victory marked an important response for the defending champions after their opening-day defeat.
Bashit, meanwhile, maintained his outstanding start to the tournament by scoring again in Upper West Region’s 2-1 victory over Volta Region.
The forward has now scored four goals in two matches. His latest goal followed a hat-trick in Upper West Region’s emphatic opening-day win against defending champions Eastern Region.
Bashit’s continued form has made him one of the most prominent attacking players in the competition so far, while Siaw’s early goal ensured Eastern Region collected a first win in their title defence.
The two players’ performances highlighted an eventful second matchday in Group A, with both making decisive contributions to victories for their regions.
The 2026 MTN Elite U-19 Championship remains an important platform for young footballers in Ghana. It is designed to help emerging players improve their technical and tactical abilities while gaining experience in competitive matches.
