Majeed Ashimeru is closing in on a six-month loan move to RAAL La Louvière with one clear objective in mind: forcing his way back into Ghana’s World Cup plans.
The midfielder, who has endured a frustrating spell on the sidelines, sees the imminent switch from Anderlecht as a crucial opportunity to revive his club career and reignite his international ambitions ahead of the 2026 finals.
For Ashimeru, regular football has become non-negotiable. The 28-year-old has not featured for Anderlecht’s senior side this season, having struggled to fully recover rhythm after a muscle injury sustained last year.
Although he has returned to action with four appearances and a goal for the club’s U23 team, his path back into the first-team picture has remained blocked, prompting a decisive move to secure consistent minutes.
That need is closely tied to his standing with the Black Stars. Ashimeru last represented Ghana at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, staged in early 2024, where he suffered an injury.
The setback disrupted his momentum, and he never quite managed to regain full sharpness in the months that followed.
With competition for places in Ghana’s midfield intensifying, the absence of regular club football has left him on the fringes of national team consideration.
The proposed loan to RAAL La Louvière is designed to change that narrative. Anderlecht will continue to cover his full salary, allowing the midfielder to focus entirely on rebuilding form, fitness and confidence.
With 12 caps since his Black Stars debut in 2021, Ashimeru knows time and minutes are critical. A strong run of games could put him firmly back on Ghana’s radar.
