Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has expressed satisfaction with the debut performance of Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo during the FA Cup mauling of Exeter City.
Semenyo scored and delivered an assist in his first game for the Manchester club, and was named Man of the Match in the 10-1 victory as City progressed in the oldest Cup competition.
The 26-year-old is expected to make his second appearance for City in the first leg of their semi-final clash with Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday at St James Park.
Ahead of the game, Guardiola urged Semenyo to continue his fine form, describing him as a nice guy.
“The impression is what he has done in Bournemouth in many years, he is a nice guy,” he said in the pre-match presser for Tuesday's game.
“And he showed in a few actions what he showed at Bournemouth and hopefully he can continue to do it here.”
Meanwhile, Semenyo has been declared eligible for the match against the Magpies following a rule change (Rule 6.4) in the Carabao Cup at the start of the season.
The Ghanaian forward previously featured in the competition with Bournemouth at the beginning of the campaign as they lost to Bournemouth.
However, the new rule allows him to feature for his new club after completing his City move before the end of the winter transfer window and before the furst leg of the semi-final.
