Former Ghana Football Association Executive Council member Sammy Anim Addo posted a celebratory reminder of Asamoah Gyan as an African football greatness.
The statement was backed by the statistic: Asamoah Gyan remains Africa’s highest goal scorer in FIFA World Cup history, a record that continues to stand the test of time.
The former Black Stars captain finished his World Cup journey with six goals, scored across three tournaments (2006, 2010, and 2014), a feat no other African player has been able to surpass.
Anim Addo posted on X: “And still the KING @ASAMOAH_GYAN3 reigns” and punctuated the message with his trademark excitement â “Babyjeeeeeet” â as if to signal that no debate was necessary.
Close behind Gyan is Cameroon legend Roger Milla, whose iconic celebrations at Italia ’90 remain etched in football folklore. Milla scored five World Cup goals, redefining age and expectations on the world’s biggest stage.
Completing the elite list is Nigeria’s Ahmed Musa, whose four goals, including a memorable brace against Iceland at Russia 2018, secured his place among Africa’s finest.
