Coach Ibrahim Tanko admits Medeama’s draw with Asante Kotoko felt very bitter, but he insists the team has already turned their attention to their next game against Berekum Chelsea.
Medeama led 2-0 at the Baba Yara Stadium through goals from Yussif Mubarik (18', Pen.) and Derrick Fordjour (5'). But Kotoko fought back with strikes from Peter Amidu Acquah (59') and Ndongani Samba Gilbani, who scored a dramatic equalizer deep into stoppage time (90’+5).
Tanko shared his thoughts on the match while preparing for the upcoming fixture.
"No, I think I said it after the game. It's a very painful draw even though you are playing Kotoko in their home grounds and leading 2-0 and then in the second half for them to equalize. It's very bitter but I think the game is is gone and we have to concentrate on Berekum Chelsea," he told Medeama TV.
Despite the disappointment, Medeama remains top of the league with 23 points after 12 matches. Tanko is determined to keep the team focused as they aim to protect their position at the summit.
