Nana Sarfo Oduro says he will not join calls blaming Hearts of Oak coach Didi Dramani for the club’s exit from the MTN FA Cup.
The Ghana Football Association Executive Council member's comments follow the Phobians’ 1â0 loss to Division Two side True Life FC in the Round of 64 on Wednesday.
Hearts arrived at the Kpobiman Sports Complex hoping to build on their win over Vision FC but suffered a late setback.
True Life scored in the 78th minute to secure a memorable victory and send the record holders out of the competition.
Speaking to Asempa FM, Sarfo Oduro defended Dramani but highlighted the coach’s deep knowledge of the opposition.
“I wouldn’t join people to blame Didi Dramani for Hearts of Oak’s MTN FA Cup exit, but he knows True Life in and out. Without looking at the team sheet, he can give you the lineup of True Life,” he said.
Dramani rotated his squad for the match, handing opportunities to fringe players in an attempt to keep the group fresh.
The approach, however, did not yield the desired result as Hearts struggled to break down their determined opponents.
The defeat marks the second time in three years that Hearts have been eliminated by lower-division opposition at the same venue.
