Old Tafo MP Vincent Assafuah believes the upcoming friendly between the Black Queens and England is the perfect moment to allow new and fringe players to show what they can do.
He feels the national team must build a strong squad that goes beyond the usual starters.
The Black Queens take on England at St. Mary’s Stadium in Southampton, and the team completed their final training session ahead of the match. Assafuah thinks this game offers an important opportunity to test different options before a major competition.
He explained why squad depth is so important during tournaments.
"Because we are going to a tournament we should be able to try the new players on Tuesday you know how a tournament is it is a month long tournament. you can get one or two key players having an injury, one or two can also get a red card in the absence of them what happens to the team," as aired by Peace FM.
"Normally, if you don't plan for the team it destabilizes the team. So I think because it is a friendly match on Tuesday we should be able to try the new players to see that in the absence of the original eleven starting lineup that we know that we are taking them to the tournament. Can we also have a way of also having a replacement for them,"
