Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) chairman, Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, has cautioned the Black Stars technical team led by Otto Addo never to consider inviting players who earlier turned down an offer to play for the country.
Following Ghana's qualification to the 2026 World Cup, several European-born players have reportedly expressed their interest in playing for the West African country.
Callum Hudson-Odoi, Eddie Nketiah, among other players, are believed to be eyeing a call-up for the senior national team for the global showpiece.
However, Dr Nyaho Tamakloe, speaking to Graphic Sports, cautioned that players who initially rejected a call-up to play must never be given the chance.
“Those who initially turned down invitations should not be invited at all, but those who have never been invited must be given the opportunity to come and play,” the Hearts of Oak board member said.
The Black Stars will learn their group phase opponents on Friday, November 5.
After exiting at the group phase in the last edition in Qatar in 2022, the Black Stars are determined to leave a mark at the Mundial, which will be hosted by the USA, Canada and Mexico next summer.
