Asante Kotoko coach Abdul Karim Zito has vowed to defeat Ibrahim Tanko’s Medeama SC when the two Ghana Premier League title contenders clash at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.
Zito’s pledge sets the tone for a high-pressure fixture between two of the league’s strongest sides as Kotoko seek an immediate response after their first defeat of the campaign.
“It’s unfortunate that my brother, Ibrahim Tanko, is meeting me with his Medeama SC side at this time, but I’ll have to beat him on Sunday.”
Kotoko enter the match fourth on the table with 20 points and are yet to lose at home in their last 16 league outings.
Medeama, meanwhile, sit second with 22 points and arrive in Kumasi carrying an impressive eight-game unbeaten record that has strengthened their title ambitions.
Both teams have conceded only six goals this season, reinforcing expectations of a tightly contested encounter.
Kotoko also hold a home advantage, winning three of their last five league meetings with Medeama in Kumasi.
