President of the Ghana Football Association Kurt Okraku has been named chair of the government’s inter-ministerial committee tasked with coordinating Ghana’s involvement in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The eleven-member body was inaugurated on Wednesday at the Jubilee House and will guide national preparations for the tournament.
The committee includes senior officials such as Deputy Chief of Staff Stan Xoese Dogbe and Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel O. Ablakwa.
Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams, Youth Development Minister George Opare, Deputy Tourism and Culture Minister Yusif Jajah, and Deputy Finance Minister Ampem Nyarkoh also serve as members.
Former Ghana captain Abedi Pele, Deputy National Security Coordinator Elizabeth Yankah, and Sports Ministry Chief Director Wilhelmina Asamoah complete the team. An additional representative from the private sector will be appointed later.
Government has already committed 150 million Ghana cedis to support Ghana’s participation, marking a significant investment ahead of the expanded 2026 tournament.
Ghana sealed qualification for the Canada, USA, and Mexico tournament in grand-style, where they will make their fifth appearance.
