Ghana head coach Otto Addo has described his side’s encounter against South Korea on Tuesday as an even contest.
The coach and his team suffered a 1-0 defeat to South Korea in a game where several key Black Stars players, including Mohammed Kudus, Jordan Ayew, Thomas Partey, and Antoine Semenyo, were missing.
Assessing the contest after the game, Otto Addo applauded the South Koreans for their win, but shared that he believes his Black Stars equally played well.
“First of all, congratulations to South Korea. I think it was a good game from both sides. They were more clinical on their chances they had. I think we had good ball possession, but also a lot of chances we created which we couldn't use. The difference was that they used their chances even though they missed a penalty.
“I think the game was kind of even. I think it was good to watch....” the Ghana coach said as quoted on ghanafa.org.
He continued, “We also had our chances. Good pressing moments where we could have, when we won the ball, scored. But also, good counter-situations. They were more clinical, and that's why I think South Korea won.”
Despite the defeat to South Korea on Tuesday, coach Otto Addo’s side has been praised by Ghanaians over what they deem as an improved performance from the last match against Japan.
The coach believes his team must stay focused and work on improving further before the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
