Former Manchester City striker Paul Dickov has lauded Jeremy Doku for his blistering form this season, calling him one of Europe’s most dangerous attackers.
The Belgian-Ghanaian winger delivered a standout performance in City’s 3-0 victory over Liverpool at the Etihad, where his pace, flair, and precision tormented the visitors’ defence throughout the contest.
Doku’s display reignited discussions about his exceptional potential, which had been muted by inconsistency and injuries in previous campaigns.
Since joining City, Doku has grown steadily under Pep Guardiola, but this season has marked a major leap in his confidence and productivity.
In contrast to his earlier Premier League returns of three goals and seven assists per season, the 23-year-old now appears more assertive and decisive in the final third.
Dickov, speaking to Best Betting Bonuses, hailed Doku as one of the best in Europe at the moment.
“I would say he’s probably the best in Europe at the minute. Not just of his performance against Liverpool, which was top drawer, but I said before the game, that despite Erling Haaland’s goals, Doku has consistently been City’s best player and biggest threat,” he said.
The former striker added that Doku’s transformation has been driven by hard work and maturity.
“People were forgetting last season. They were questioning his end product a little bit. And maybe he was doing all these dribbles and was playing at a mile-a-minute.
“Maybe his crossing and finishing suffered, but he’s worked so hard at his game. He’s only 23 years old. He’s a young boy, and he’s just impossible to defend against when he gets you one on one.”
Doku has now made 100 appearances for Manchester City in all competitions, scoring 17 goals.
