Union Berlin defender Derrick Kohn has been handed his first Black Stars start in a high-profile friendly against Japan.
The 25-year-old left-back, who lies his trade in the Bundesliga was named in the 22-man squad for the Kirin Cup tournament in Asia.
Kohn had previously earned a call up for the final round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers last month but was unable to feature due to delays in his nationality switch process.
Following FIFA clearance, the enterprising left-back has been handed his first Black Stars appearance by coach Otto Addo, as the team gears up for next year's tournament in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Kohn will be hoping to prove himself in the high-profile friendly in order to cement a place in the national team as the global showpiece approaches.
Aside Kohn, goalkeeper Joseph Anang has also been handed his first Ghana appearance in the Japan friendly, while Antoine Semenyo captains the team for the first time since making his debut.
Ghana will take on South Korea on November 18 after the Japan showdown today. The two matches form part of the Black Stars’ efforts to strengthen their squad ahead of next year’s competitive fixtures.
