The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed that Benjamin Asare remains the only player yet to join the Black Stars camp in Japan ahead of the Kirin Cup friendly against Japan on Friday, November 14, 2025.
Asare, who is Ghana’s first-choice goalkeeper, could potentially miss the opening match of the tour. The Hearts of Oak shot-stopper was impressive during Ghana’s successful qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, helping the team secure their place in the tournament.
The goalkeeper has made seven appearances for Ghana, keeping five clean sheets, highlighting his importance to the national team. His arrival in camp will complete the squad as they prepare for their clash at the Toyota Stadium in Aichi, before travelling to South Korea for the second friendly.
The Black Stars are focused on using the fixtures to finalise their preparations for next year’s World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico, and Asare’s participation will be key to the team’s defensive setup.
