Ghana midfielder Sarah Nyarko has been crowned the Overall Best Player of the WAFU B U20 Girls Cup in Benin.
The talented Dreamz Ladies player impressed throughout the tournament, scoring three goals and providing one assist in four matches.
Nyarko’s recognition continues Ghana’s strong record in the competition, succeeding Stella Nyamekye, who claimed the award in the maiden edition hosted in Kumasi. Despite her outstanding performances, Ghana finished as runners-up to Nigeria, missing out on retaining their title.
The Black Princesses beat hosts Benin twice but lost both encounters against Nigeria, who emerged as champions of this year’s tournament.
The competition offered valuable preparation for Head Coach Charles Sampson, as he continues to shape his squad for next month’s FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifier against South Africa.
Nyarko’s form will be a major boost heading into the qualifiers, with her creativity and work rate expected to play a key role in Ghana’s campaign.
