Black Princesses coach Charles Sampson has expressed disappointment with the manner in which his team conceded goals in their 3-0 defeat to Nigeria at the 2025 WAFU B U20 Girls’ Cup.
The loss in Benin on Tuesday, November 11, ended Ghana’s campaign in the regional competition, where they registered two wins against Benin and two defeats to the Falconets.
Nigeria struck twice in the opening 40 minutes before adding a third late in the game to complete a double victory over the Black Princesses, having beaten them earlier in the tournament.
Sampson, while acknowledging positives from the team’s overall performance, was unhappy with the defensive errors that led to the goals.
"I'm very, very satisfied with many things, but our lack of concentration to concede a goal like this, of course, is a hard one to take in. But the purpose of coming here is also to see certain things about us that we need to develop and also to see how we handle different situations.
"With that said, I'm very, very happy that we're able to experience this while we have something great ahead of us, which we are looking forward to."
Sampson remains optimistic that the lessons from the WAFU B campaign will strengthen Ghana’s preparation for their upcoming FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifier against South Africa in 2026.
