Ghana head coach Otto Addo is expected to experiment with new players in the attack of the Black Stars during the upcoming friendly matches against Japan and South Korea.
Having secured the national team’s qualification to the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the October international break, the German-trained tactician is looking to build a formidable side to compete with the rest of the world next year.
On Tuesday, coach Otto Addo named a 22-man squad to prepare for the international friendly matches against Japan and South Korea on November 14 and November 18, respectively.
Due to injury and fatigue, several key players have been left out of the Black Stars squad.
The most hit department of the team is the attack, with the likes of captain Jordan Ayew, Mohammed, Joseph Paintsil, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, and Inaki Williams all missing from the squad.
To make up for these players, Otto Addo has handed debut call-ups to three in-form attackers.
Viktoria Plzen striker Prince Adu Kwabena, Medeama SC’s Kelvin Nkrumah, and Prince Osei Owusu of CF Montreal have been drafted in to augment the quality of Antoine Semenyo and Brandon Thomas-Asante.
Although the current situation is a big miss, it gives Coach Otto Addo a fine opportunity to experiment with a different set of attacks when Ghana takes on Japan and South Korea.
It is up to Prince Adu Kwabena, Kelvin Nkrumah, and Prince Osei Owusu to take their chances when called on to feature for the Black Stars in any of the matches.
