Hearts of Oak have released a statement condemning the attack of officials following their defeat to Asante Kotoko in the Super Clash on Sunday.
The Phobians suffered their first defeat of the season following a 1-0 loss to the Porcupine Warriors.
A controversial penalty in the first half was converted by Morifing Donzo before a second half strike from Mawuli Wayo for Hearts was dismissed by the officials as offside.
The decision left some players unhappy with Hussein Mohammed spotted attacking the referee at the end of the match.
The club has since released a statement apologizing for the unfortunate incident while an internal disciplinary action is expected to be taken against the player.
"Following the conclusion of the match, we acknowledge with deep regret the unfortunate scenes that unfolded after the final whistle. The moments do not uphold the values we uphold as a club- values rooted in discipline, respect and the spirit of fair play," part of the statement read.
"We unreservedly apologise to the Ghana Football Association, the match officials, our fans and the general public. We recognise the importance of maintaining the game's integrity and are taking immediate steps to reinforce that commitment.
"As part of our internal response, we have initiated disciplinary process concerning the player involved."
Hussein has been charged by the Ghana FA disciplinary committee and has some days to appeal the decision. He has since also apologise for his indiscretion.
