The head coach of Ghana’s Black Princesses, Charles Sampson, has stressed the importance of the ongoing WAFU B U20 Girls Cup, noting that it is helping his players to develop.
Speaking after guiding his team to a 2-0 win over host Benin on Monday morning, the coach applauded organisers for putting together the tournament.
“This has been a really good tournament for us. Our girls needed games like this to develop, and that we are very grateful for that,” Charles Sampson told the Ghana FA Media.
On the win against Benin, the Black Princesses coach commended his players for putting up a top performance to overcome the opponent.
“We wanted a win today, coming back from a defeat to Nigeria, and we got it. We got a win and the girls showed good character, and I was impressed with it,” Sampson added.
The triumph against Benin means the Princesses have completed a double over the host nation at the tournament.
Up next for Ghana, the Black Princesses will play their last game against Nigeria on Tuesday, November 11, at 9:00 GMT.
