Hearts of Oak’s Communications Director, Kwame Opare Addo, has confirmed that the club will officially respond to the charges levelled against them by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) following incidents in their 1-0 loss to Asante Kotoko.
The Phobians were edged by their archrivals in Sunday’s Matchday 9 fixture at the Accra Sports Stadium, with Guinean forward Morifing Donzo converting a first-half penalty to secure victory for Kotoko.
In the aftermath of the game, Hearts defender Hussein Mohammed was charged with assaulting match officials, while the club itself faces disciplinary action for allegedly failing to control its supporters.
Speaking to Asempa FM, Opare Addo said the club was reviewing the GFA’s decision and would take the appropriate steps in its response.
"We will look at the charge and respond appropriately," he said.
"If apology is part of the response, so shall it be," Opare Addo added.
Following the defeat, Hearts of Oak’s unbeaten run came to an end. They currently occupy sixth place on the league table with 16 points and are set to face Swedru All Blacks in their Matchday 10 encounter this weekend at the Swedru Sports Stadium.
