Hearts of Oak defender Hussein Mohammed has been charged by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for misconduct following an incident involving referee Reginald Collins Amoah after the Super Clash defeat to Asante Kotoko at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.
The confrontation reportedly occurred after the final whistle, as the referee and his assistants were making their way to the dressing room. Hussein Mohammed is alleged to have rushed toward the referee in anger, but was quickly restrained by police officers who had surrounded Amoah for protection.
The GFA described the player’s conduct as a serious breach of Articles 12(1)(k) and 34(6)(d) of the Disciplinary Code, which prohibits threatening or attempting to assault match officials.
The charge follows a tense 1-0 defeat for Hearts, in which referee Amoah awarded Kotoko a first-half penalty and later ruled out Mawuli Wayo’s stoppage-time equaliser for offside, decisions that drew heavy protests from Hearts players and fans.
Hussein Mohammed has until Tuesday, November 11, 2025, to respond to the charge.
