Basake Holy Stars will be desperate to revive their faltering Ghana Premier League campaign when they host giants Hearts of Oak at the AAK Sports Arena in Ampain on Sunday afternoon.
The newly promoted side have endured a nightmare start to life in the top flight, collecting just two points from their opening seven matches and failing to find the back of the net.
Their four consecutive defeats on the road have exposed their frailties at both ends of the pitch, but returning to familiar territory could offer a glimmer of hope as they seek their first win of the season.
Interestingly, Heart are yet to beat Holy Stars in the Ghana Premier League since the latter’s promotion to the topflight.
The two previous meetings between the sides both ended a victory for Holy Stars and a stalemate, suggesting that the Ampain-based club have found a way to frustrate the Phobians despite their relative inexperience.
However, Hearts will fancy their chances this time around. The Accra giants remain unbeaten this season but have managed only one win in their last four games, drawing three.
They head into this clash following a 2-2 draw against reigning champions Bibiani GoldStars in Accra last weekend - a result that summed up their campaign so far: resilient but lacking the killer edge.
With creative spark Hussein Mohammed and forward Hamzah Issah expected to play key roles, Hearts will be eager to end their winless run against Holy Stars and close the gap on the league’s frontrunners.
